The 1984-1984 Blue Devils Basketball team won 29 regular season games, lost only two and finished 16th in the nation in the NJCAA Poll.  They were ranked 1st in the Illinois NJCAA Region 24 Coaches Poll the same year that Coach Frank Evans won his 400th game at Richland.  

The Blue Devils also won the conference title by beating John A Logan 43-41, marking the first time since 1970 that the Kaskaskia College Blue Devils had won the Great Rivers Athletic Conference title.  Wayne Harre was nominated as an NJCAA Academic All-American and Danny Johnson was All-Region team.  The Blue Devils' momentum carried them to a championship in the sectional and state tournaments.  At the national tournament, the Blue Devils bested Westchester, Shelby State and Westmark to earn a 7th place finish in the nation.
