Christy Haake Langford played for the Blue Angel Volleyball team
in 1990. Even though she only played her sophomore year at
Kaskaskia College, Christy brought a powerful presence to the
Kaskaskia offense. Playing in the setter position in a 5-1
offense, Christy’s inspired plays led the Blue Angels to a
31-7 record and resulted in a tie for 1st in the Great Rivers
Athletic Conference; a first for Kaskaskia College.
Christy also guided her team to 1st place in the East Central
College Tournament, 1st place in the Parkland College Tournament
and 3rd place in the Region 24 State Tournament; also a first for
Kaskaskia College. Christy was named team Co-Most Valuable
Player, as co-captain, in 1990 and was selected to the Great Rivers
Athletic All-Conference Team and Region 24 First Team.
After graduation from Kaskaskia, Christy received a scholarship
to the University of South Alabama, a Division 1 institution, where
she was a continued her volleyball career. Christy graduated
a Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Finance and went on to
play professional beach volleyball on the Gulf Coast and
Florida. Christy now resides in Houston,
Texas.
