Chuck Mundell came to Centralia Junior College (Kaskaskia
College) for the 1954-55 school year as Athletic Director,
basketball, baseball, and tennis coach. Chuck continued to coach
basketball through the 1982-83 season and accumulated a record of
400-358.
Chuck's teams won ten conference titles and made state
final appearances in 1964 (1st), 1965 (3rd), 1967 (3rd) and 1968
(4th). The 1964 Blue Devils Basketball team finished 28-3 and 8th
in the nation. Chuck coached five All-Americans in basketball and
one All-American in baseball.
Chuck has been an integral influence on numerous teams and
players and many of those players and teams have also earned Hall
of Fame honors because of his inspiration.
Chuck served as Chairman of the State Junior College
Basketball Association for twenty-five years and was inducted into
the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
