Daren Hill was a member of the Blue Devils basketball team in 1990 and 1991. As a freshman, he averaged 15.3 points and 10 rebounds per game. Daren was named to the All GRAC conference 1st team and to All Region 2nd team. As a sophomore, he led the GRAC, averaging 23 points and 11 rebounds per game. His accolades as a sophomore included All GRAC Conference 1st team, GRAC Player of the Year, All Region 1st team, Region 24 Tournament MVP, and JUCO All American. Daren led the Blue Devils to a 9th place finish in the national tournament played at Hutchinson, Kansas. He scored 1,380 points in two years at KC and graduated with an Associate in Arts Degree.
He transferred to Murray State University on a basketball scholarship where he averaged 12. 3 points and 5 rebounds per game in 1992. He then transferred to the University of Missouri - St Louis (UMSL) for his senior year. In 1993, Daren averaged 20 points and 8 rebounds per game and was named MIAA Newcomer of the Year, All MIAA Conference 1st team, and player of the week for two consecutive weeks.
