Dr. Shelvy Haywood Keglar attended Kaskaskia College from 1966–1969 and was a member of the Blue Devil Basketball team. As a freshman, he averaged 16 points per game and was named All-Conference. His efforts contributed to the team qualifying for state finals where the Blue Devils placed 3rd.

Shelvy was named as a team captain in his freshman and sophomore years and led the Blue Devils in assisting and scoring. His sophomore season, Shelvy led the team in scoring, rebounding and in assists.  Shelvy was named All-Conference and All-State and was the only player selected from Southern Illinois. His sophomore year, the Blue Devils finished 4th at state finals.  

From Kaskaskia College, Shelvy went on to captain the team at Arkansas State University and was crucial to the turnaround of the basketball program.  Shelvy later served as freshman coach and graduate assistant at Arkansas State before joining the military.  Shelvy served as the player coach of the Fort Sam Houston Rangers for two years and was selected to the All-Army Team.   Shelvy was also invited to pro tryouts with the San Antonio Spurs in 1972 and with the Indiana Pacers in 1975.  Dr. Keglar is a clinical psychologist and president of Midwest Psychological Center, Inc.
