George F "Jeff" Carling joined Kaskaskia College in 1988 where he served as the Director of Student Activities, Student Congress Sponsor, Athletic Director and Head Men’s Basketball Coach. During his tenure, Jeff led the Blue Devils Basketball team to a total of 205 wins and 147 losses in eleven seasons.
Jeff was the 1975 South Seven Conference Coach of the Year and his winning style and focus on the value of teamwork resulted in a NJCAA Region 24 and District 4 championship in 1991 and 1998, two GRAC titles in 1992 and 1998, and two national finals. The 1991 Blue Devils finished 9th in the NJCAA National Tournament and the 1998 Blue Devils finished 8th in the NJCAA National Tournament.
Jeff was a recipient of the 1994 Kaskaskia College Distinguished Service Award and was selected as the GRAC Coach of the Year in 1992, 1996, 1997 and 1998. Jeff was also named NJCAA Region 24, District 4 and Illinois Community College Coach of the Year in 1991 and 1998.
