Larry McCaskey has been a friend of Kaskaskia College for many years.  An athlete in his own right, Larry played baseball professionally in the Cleveland Indians minor league from 1955-1957, pitching for the Vidalia Indians, Sherbrooke Indians, Fargo Moorehead Twins and the Keokuk Kernals.  Larry’s record was 9-2 with a .356 batting average for the Vandalia Indians and a 16-8 record with a .276 batting average for the Fargo Moorhead Twins. Larry was selected as the most valuable player on the Fargo Moorehead Twins team in June 1956.

 

In service to Kaskaskia College, Larry chaired the Sports and Wellness Committee for ten years and assisted with the Sports and Wellness Facility projects.  The facilities are utilized by Kaskaskia College for athletic practice and competition, course offerings and community events.  A supporter of the Foundation Scholarship Program through his sponsorship of the Larry and Marrion McCaskey Scholarship, Larry is also a supporter of the Kaskaskia College Arboretum and has a tree planted in memory of Alvin McCaskey.
