Ray Johnson played baseball at Kaskaskia College from 1970-1972 with a batting average of .327.  Ray's record also includes thirteen doubles, six triples, eleven home runs and sixty-seven runs batted in.  Ray was All-Conference both years he played at Kaskaskia College and was named to the Region 24 All-Star team.  


After Kaskaskia College, Ray continued his baseball career at Eastern Illinois University where he held a .328 batting average in his senior year with two home runs and ten runs batted in.  Ray led his team to a 2nd place finish in the NCAA Division 2 Tournament. 

After graduation, Ray became a teacher at Unity High School in Tolono, Illinois teaching business classes, coordinating the Co-Op Work Program and coaching baseball.  Ray later worked for the Mahomet-Seymour School District where he taught high consumer economics, coordinated the work study progra, and coached the golf and wrestling teams. 

Ray left teaching in 1986 but continues his involvement with the schools and the youth of Illinois through the Hayden’s Sport Center and as an independent businessman providing quality sporting equipment and graduation regalia.
