Coach Owens begins his first year as an Assistant Coach under Brian Hancock. As a player, he played four years for Centralia High School under Coach Lee Bennett where he gained IBCA & AP All-State Honors his  junior & senior years. After high school, Owens played for Chad Jones & the Lincoln Land Loggers (2016-2018) where he was All-Conference, All-Region, and was voted a member of the school’s All-Decade team (2010-2020). After his time in Springfield, Owens played at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside (2018-2019) for Coach Luke Riegel where they won the Conference Division Title in the GLIAC. Following a year in Kenosha, Wisconsin, he transferred to William Woods University (2019-2021) under Charles Belt where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Educational Studies in 2021.

Following his playing career in 2020, Owens started his coaching career as was one of the Head Coaches with the Southwestern Illinois Jets (2020-now) under Dana Morgan & Andre McMurray. This AAU Program has allowed him to coach high-major talent from across the Metro East, Illinois, & Missouri area. In the 2022-2023, as a first-year head coach, Owens coached the Central City Citians to a 26-7 record while having a 2nd Place Finish at the SIJHSAA State Finals. Following the season, he was nominated for NABC Coach of the Year in District 9.
