Kaskaskia College Soccer Players Receive Honors

Kaskaskia College is proud to announce that four soccer players, Kylie Bilek (Perryville, MO), Torrie Helms (Sikeston, MO), Brooklyn Hamman (Poseyville, M), and Elizabeth Wyatt (Collinsville, IL) and  have all received All-Region 24 honors for the 2017 season. 

 

The Blue Angels finished the season at 11-4 and were ranked #20 in the nation in early October.  Coach Joe Basch says, "I'm proud to have 4 players receive these honors.  We had players selected in all areas of the field which speaks to the balance and depth of the roster.  We had a lot of serious injuries this season and these players were consistent contributors that helped us over come so much adversity."

Kylie Bilek a sophomore forward, scored 24 goals and 11 assists this season. Kylie finished in the top 5 in region voting, earned 1st team all-region and will be a region 24 nominee for all-American.  "Kylie scored in every game that we scored in and proved herself to be a top player in the region." said KC coach Joe Basch

Torrie Helms, a sophomore midfielder, scored 10 goals and 11 assists. Torrie earned 1st team all-region honors.  "Torrie was heavily involved in our transition game from defense to offense and took most of our free kicks." said Basch

Brooklynn Hamman, sophomore goalie, had a phenomenal 1.15 goals against average.  Brooklynn earned honorable mention all-region.  "Brooklynn was a steady reliable force in goal for us all season logging a ton of minutes and producing numerous shut-outs." said Basch

Elizabeth Wyatt, a freshman defender, had an assist despite playing only a defensive roll for the blue angels.  Elizabeth earned honorable mention all-region honors.  "Elizabeth was the center piece of the defense.  She thwarted so many chances by the opposing offense." said Basch
