KC Volleyball Players Smith and Powell Receive Region 24 Honors

Kaskaskia College freshman volleyball players, Brooklynn Smith (Carlyle) and Taylor Powell (Lovington) have received Region 24 Honors by being named to Second Team All-Region 24

Coach Kim Rahar says, "Brooklynn played in all 32 matches and has been the go to player for us this season.  She is the power to our team and was able to put the ball down in pressure situations as a freshman."   She finished the season with 367 kills and a hitting percent of .252.  She also had 253 digs and 49 total blocks. 

Powell played in all 32 matches and led the team in kills with 370 and a hitting percent of .224.  She also finished with 235 digs.  Rahar said, "Taylor is very court smart and can place the ball anywhere on the court."

The Blue Angel Volleyball season came to an end in the first round of the District Tournament at Lake Land College against Missouri State-West Plains on Saturday, November 9th.  The team finished with a record of 22-14 overall, 8-6 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference (3rd) and finished 3rd place in the Region 24 Tournament with wins over Wabash Valley and Vincennes University that was held at John A Logan on November 1st and 2nd.
