Blue Angels open up at EIU Walt Crawford Invite

KC Blue Angels prepare for their race.

The KC women's cross country team opened their season in Charleston at the EIU Walt Crawoford Invite. The 6 team meet was won by the host EIU women, while the Blue Angels captured 5th palce. 

Centraila's Cheyenne Finley placed 17th in a time of 21:06.3 over the 5K distance. Her time moved her onto the KC Top Ten list for the 5K distance. Elyse Faust of St Rose placed 23rd in a time of 22:11.3, she was followed by her high school teammate Mya Albers of Breese and Mater Dei High School in a time of 23:34. Gracee Kelly of Centralia was next in line with a time of 23:55. KC's fifth counter was Breann Wernle of Highland. The next three Blue Angels to come across the finish line was Brittnie Bartling of Nashville, Alyssa Frakes of Belleville West, and Savannah Childers of Mt Vernon. Jaylyn Raye Bower of Nashville was unable to attend the meet, due to her training committment to the Illinois Army National Guard.
