In game one, MCC would only manage 3 hits in the game with Mason Brunworth (Mona Shores), Abdiel Gonzalez (Lake Orion) and Sam Mitcham (Sinclair Secondary) each collecting a hit. Andrew Dukesherer (Grandville) took the loss for Jayhawks. The righthander allowed 4 hits and 5 runs in 5 innings, striking out 5.
MCC earned the series win with a 9-8 victory in game two. Trevor Garret (Clarkston) picked up the win with 2.1 innings of work in relief. Cody Matuz (Fruitport) recorded the final 3 outs to earn his first save. Offensively Bryce Lesher (St. Joe) and Cole Olson (Central Montcalm) each had 2 hits.
MCC's early record moves to 3-8. They wrap up the weekend with a single 9 innings game at Heartland Community College in Normal, IL on Monday, 3/6.
