Kaskaskia snaps Warriors' win streak with 84-72 victory

CENTRALIA, Ill. -- Kaskaskia snapped Wabash Valley's two-game winning streak with an 84-72 Great Rivers Athletic Conference basketball victory here on Saturday afternoon. 

The loss dropped the Warriors to 8-5 on the season and 2-4 in the GRAC. Kaskaskia improved to 11-5 overall and 3-3 with the win. 

Trailing 30-15 in the first half, WVC finished strong with a 14-6 surge that brought the visitors to within seven points at halftime, 36-29.  

The Warriors got to within two points in the second half, but Kaskaskia regrouped in time to pull away to the win. 

Jakobi Heady led the Wabash Valley attack with 18 points. Deshaun Nettles finished with 16 points, while Gary Clay added 15. Brandon Rayzer-Moore wound up with 10 points. 

Jylen Petty and Jhei-R Jones topped the Blue Devils with 18 points each. 

One game remains before the Christmas break for the Warriors, at Danville Area, on Monday, Dec. 19th. The next home game for Isaac Wodajo's club is not until 2023 – Jan. 4th against Volunteer State. 

Kaskaskia is off for 24 days, until a Jan. 10 road date against the Blackburn JV team.
