Jason Rakers played baseball for Kaskaskia College from
1993 – 1995 and was an invaluable member of the Blue Devils
Baseball team. While at Kaskaskia College, Jason played
in 108 games, held a .294 batting average and a record of six
doubles, four triples, three home runs and thirty-six runs batted
in. Jason played in the Busch Stadium Game.
After earning his Associates of Arts degree from Kaskaskia
College, Jason went on to earn his Bachelors of Arts degree from
Quincy University. Jason was also an All Time Batting
Leader for Quincy’s baseball program with a .433 batting
average. Jason was a pre-season All-American, earned All
Great Lakes Valley Conference Academic Honors and Great Lakes
Valley Conference Athletic Honors .
Jason signed to the San Diego Padres as a free agent in 1997,
the first player to ever be drafted into Major League baseball from
Quincy University. Playing in the Major League afforded
Jason the opportunity to travel much of the United States to
include, Arizona, Idaho, Iowa, California and Missouri during his
three years of league play. Jason was a 1999 Frontier
League All Star. Jason was Head Coach of the 2011 Junior High
State Champion baseball team from Aviston, Illinois and is Head
Coach of the Mater Dei Baseball program.
