Coach Perry Michael got his start in college athletics in 2016 when he attended Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana. Under Head Coach Tom Church, Coach P became the Men’s Basketball Team Manager during the 2016-17 season. The following season, he transferred to Indiana University Kokomo (IUK) to continue his role as Team Manager for Coach Church.
By 2018, IUK hired a new Head Coach, Eric Echelbarger, at which time Coach P was promoted to Assistant Coach. During his 3 year tenure, he helped compile a record of 60-17, coached 3 River States All-Conference players and helped capture 2 River States Conference West titles. During the 2018-19 season, IUK were nationally ranked for the first time in the program’s history and remained consistently ranked throughout the 2019-20 season.
By 2021, Coach P took on women's basketball at Olney Central College as the Assistant Coach for Coach Clint Burris. During the 2022-23 season, he coached 1 All-Conference and 3 All-Region players, and the team earned the highest athletic GPA in school history with a 3.74. Coach P also helped implement team summer shootouts for the first time in program history.
Coach P is originally from Phoenix, Arizona and a Veteran of the United States Navy. He graduated from Indiana University Kokomo with a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management and a Master’s degree from Indiana State University in Sports Management.
