Brian Hancock begins his 16th season as Head Coach of the Kaskaskia College Blue Devils. This year’s team returns 2 players (Caleb Jenkins, Will Vasser) that gained valuable experience last season in the GRAC as they will be counted on to provide leadership to help our 2 transfers (Isaiah Tolbert, Martin Garza) and freshman (Lyonel Hodges, Kamari Slaughter, Jamal Chambers, Koby Wilmoth, Aidan Parker, Dallas Harding-Fair, Anthoni Sandford, Laith Hoxworth, Eric Price) as they adjust to a new level of competition and play.

Hancock’s coaching career began at North Idaho College where he was an Assistant Coach from 1991-1996 under NJCAA Hall of Fame Inductee Rolly Williams. Hancock played for NIC from 1986-1988. 

Coach Hancock spent the 1996-1997 season as an Assistant Coach at the University of Idaho where he worked with former Ole Miss Head Coach Kermit Davis. For the 1997-1998 season, Hancock was an Administrative Assistant Coach at Washington State University where he worked under former Boston Celtics/Los Angeles Clippers Assistant, Kevin Eastman. 

Hancock spent five seasons (1998-2003) as an assistant at the College of Southern Idaho and saw 33 players sign with Division I programs. In his five years with the program, the Golden Eagles compiled a 131-31 record and had three players make NBA rosters (Tony Bobbitt - Lakers, William “Smush” Parker - Clippers, and Yakhouba Diawara - Nuggets). While at the College of Southern Idaho he worked alongside former Fresno State, Colorado State and NJCAA Hall of Fame Coach, Boyd Grant. 

In 2003-2004, Hancock served one season as an Assistant Coach at Barton County Community College in Great Bend, Kansas and helped lead the Cougars to a 25-9 season and a Region VI runner-up finish. He worked under NJCAA Hall of Fame Coach, Dave "Soupy" Campbell. 

From 2004-2008 Hancock served as a Division I Assistant Coach at the University of Northern Colorado and The University of Idaho. The 2007-08 Idaho squad finished sixth in the Western Athletic Conference and saw two players receive WAC Conference Awards. While at UNC, Hancock worked alongside NJCAA Hall of Fame Coach, Dan Sparks (Vincennes University 1979-2005, Wabash Valley College 2006-13).

Hancock graduated from the University of Idaho in 1991 with a Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education. He earned his Masters Degree in Recreation from Idaho in 1998 and is originally from Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. He has a fifteen year old son, Jaxson who is a freshman at Centralia HS and enjoys playing basketball, golf, baseball and running track.
