St. Louis XC Fall Classic

Blue Devils fly out of the start.

"My whole feeling in terms of racing is that you have to be very bold"  Bill Rodgers. Today the Blue Devils were bold. If you want to set the stage for post season, then finish the regular season with courage and boldness. Led by the surging Ty Reynolds, who stuck his nose in the front pack and never looked back. Reynolds placed 3rd overall in a blazing 26:34. Teammate Alex Detmer was 13th in a time of 28:10, Caleb Klein smashed the 30 minute barrier in a time of 28:37 good for 16th. As a team the Devils were 3rd, 9 points behind the 2nd place team and 1 point in front of the 4th place team. Sam Britt, Sam Britt, just keeps getting better. SB drop his time to 28:46 and placed 19th. The Blue Devils had 4 in the top 20, earning the coveted Trick or Treat Bags. The personal best just kept coming as Kolton Shoemaker raced to 29:14 for the 24th spot and then here came Andrew Stevenson under 30 in 29:26. Ryan Gerdes raced to a personal best time of 30:13. The Devils dropped their average time time to 28 minutes and 16 seconds and an overall time of 2:21.23. The pack keeps getting tighter, all postive. "The guys have been working their tails off, continuing to add up the miles and the speed of the workouts." Unoffically Ty Reynolds time of 26:34 for the 8K distance is a school record and his 3rd place finish is one of best finishes for regular season. "This group is self motivated, they work off each other, if Steve, Sam, and Ty do 12 miles for the day, Caleb will go 13 miles, the mad hatter Kolton continues to improve, Big R is still learning the race and will be the next under the 30 minute mark, Det is just Det, you know what you are going to get. I can't wait to see what this group will do in post season!"
