Blue Devils travel to Yellow Creek Park

Nick Fehr takes home 3rd overall place.

The sky was the blue with cumulus clouds floating above. Just a perfect site and day for a race. Blue Devil Nick Fehr was in 3rd most of the race, made a strong move at the end, but just came up short for the 2nd overall spot. Fehr's time of 28 minutes and 13 seconds over the hilly 8 k course was the 2nd best time in KC history on the Yellow Creek Park course, just behind former Devil Ty Reynolds. The Devils were running without Nick Zwilling, but was still able to finish only 6 points from the top team spot. Jack Shelton went out strong and put together a great race with a solid performance. Teamates Christian Rees and Daniel Obernuefemann. Two different styles, Chris goes out strong, settles in during middle and then kicks hard at the end, while "Tank" Obernuefemann starts slower, only to pick it up during the middle miles. The big question of the day, was who would be that fifth counter? A team is only as good as its fifth. Owen Huelsmann and Ostin Habeck were working together out on the course with "Tank" O, all three hit the first mile about the same time, at the end of race, Owen picked up that 5th spot. Tejas Zala keeps improving, working hard during the race. "The men competed, the course is a bit challenging and the guys worked hard on it. Due to the size of the field, there was a lot gap. At that point, its all mental and trusting your training."
