Blue Angels open the season at the Heartland Relay Invite

Blue Angels ready to go at Heartland Relay.

After a rough week of heat in southern Illinois, the Angels traveled north to Normal, IL for the Heartland College Relay Meet. The special format featured 2 runners per teams, with each runner covering a one mile distance and then "handing off" to their teammate. After the end of day, each Blue Angel covered 3 miles for a team total of 6 miles. For those that understand, mile repeats with a longer interval. Blue Angel team of Raelyn Dearing and Macey Lentz finished the day in 16th place with a time of 44.23. Grace Lauer and Brooklynn McAllister was the 2nd group for KC and then Gracee Kelly and Simone Liefer. In regards to the weather, the temperature was the mid to high 80 with high humidity. The Blue Angels showed grit and toughness in completing and competing.
