Blue Angels at Bearcat Invite

Macey and Raelyn battling.

After a delay due to atmospheric conditions casued by the every changing weather fronts, the Blue Angels toed the start line at 6 pm. After a 2 hour and 15 minute delay, most of which was spent on the bus driven by Mr. Ross, the Angels darted out of box 2 of the starting line. The 5k or 3.1 mile course twisted and rolled over the former links, greens, and fairways of the McKendree Golf Course. With a few soggy and muddy areas, the ladies handled the condition with the past experiences of the same. The goal was to get to the first mile in under 7 minutes, Macey Lentz and Raelyn Dearing crossed that mark in 6 minutes and 42 seconds, while Grace Lauer was just missed at 7 minutes and 2 seconds. Gracee Kelly covered that part of the race in 7 minutes 17 seconds, with Simone Liefer getting there in 7:33. The ladies were without Brooklynn McAllister, sided line for this race. At the turn into the final sprint to the finish line, Macey finished in a time of 22 minutes and 37 seconds, Rae D finished in 23:19. Graceland was next in 24:06. Kelly had her best time of the season, as she continues to improve in a time of 24:28. Simone finished in 25:58."I thought the ladies made good improvement, everyone is working hard. We need to get Brook back in the line up. Mace and Rae hit the first mile solid and need to push through that 2nd one. Grace and Gracee both moving in the right direction, as is Simone. Good solid efforts, its always tough when there is a delay."
